School Highlights
Far North Tools of the Trade Event (TOTT)
During September Tai Tokerau Trades Training ran another successful ‘Tools of the Trades’ event at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori ō Pukemiro.

Local employers and industry representatives came to support, delivering interactive, hands on workshops show-casing their daily work tasks and the tools used to complete the job.

Drilling, flooring, energy distribution and health and safety were the highlighted industries for this particular event, all showcasing accessible career pathways available to ākonga within their own community.

For this particular TOTT event the team decided to prioritise inviting a smaller local/rural schools and kura kaupapa Maori as our conversations with our more isolated or rural kura have identified vocational education exposure, events and opportunities are less accessible to them.
Ākonga were all exposed to different professions they would previously have had no or minimal insight into previously.

Seeing eyes widen and ākonga breaking out of their comfort zones to give everything a go, interacting with the workshops and asking the employers so many key questions, with such enthusiasm and an eagerness to know more was a reminder that these events are key to contributing to ākonga discovery of new pathways and opportunities that they can easily achieve!
We want to extend a HUGE thank you to Te Kura Kaupapa Māori ō Pukemiro for hosting this fantastic event and working with us to make this event a success! We would also like to thank all the kura and their AMAZING ākonga who attended and participated in our event!
